Learner's Analysis
We choose adult and graduate students as target learner group because the core requirement for humanitarian working assistance is highly stressed work. In one hand, the assistance need to be fully engaged in the assisting others, as well as adjust themselves from the distress and stress of different difficulties. From the traditional training program on humanitarian action Principled Approach to Humanitarian Action (PATH), humanitarian workers often work under the conflict environment, and the training course should aim to provide the learners with knowledge of know-how to face the challenge while respecting the humanitarian principles and applying international legal standards in conflict situations. We require language as English speaking just for the most of the students are from the English speaking background, and for the budget and guest speakers’ language skills, we are limited in the English speaking only. Although U.N. operates in different languages, the good communication skill in English is required for students. This doesn’t mean to exclude other language speakers, and the further research and works shall be input in developing the web-content and trainers to deliver the course in different languages.
Ethnic Background:
No specific requirement for ethnicity. As the humanitarian assistance work is now globally involved, especially under the great scale disaster, the more diverse of the ethnic background, and the more successful on the collaboration of the humanitarian training.
Disability:
No specific requirement. People with disability are very welcomed, but not including the surdimutism/blind, since the communication is the essential skill for humanitarian assistance. In addition, as the research shows, the sympathy and commiseration between the relief personnel and the victims is the essential part as successful counseling.
